Buildings & Codes
The Office of Buildings and Codes is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code (Uniform Code) and the New York State Energy Conservation Construction Code (Energy Code) within the Village of Spring Valley.
Office of Buildings and Codes Responsibilities
- Issue and review all types of permits for the Village of Spring Valley including building permits, mobile home park permits, and junkyard permits.
- Perform inspections for annual permits.
- Issue certificates of occupancy.
- Schedule building construction inspections.
- Investigate reports regarding any issues of noncompliance with the Uniform or Energy Code.
- Maintain records and collect fees for any operation that requires fee collection for permits.
- Meet with individuals concerning any building code matters.
- Administer procedural rules for court hearings.
Mission Statement
The Office of Buildings and Codes ensures that homes, buildings, and businesses within the Village of Spring Valley are structurally sound and compliant with New York State Uniform and Energy Code. Adherence to these Codes protects the health and safety of residents, visitors and first responders within the Village.
