The Rockland County Department of Health (RCDOH) currently regulates hundreds of facilities and operations in Rockland County. Improper design, operation and/or supervision of bathing facilities can create hazards endangering public health and safety. Program activities include:
- routine inspections
- facility safety plan review
- engineering design and installation review for new systems
- permitting operations at facilities
- providing technical guidance to owners, operators, lifeguards, and contractors
- closing facilities when public health hazards exist
- complaint response and investigations
- drowning and RWI incident investigations
