Typically, roads under RCHD jurisdiction serve as the collector roads connecting local streets to state highways. Each road is identified by a blue shield sign with route number in gold color.

Do you maintain sidewalk or traffic signals?
No. Sidewalk and traffic signals maintenance are under the jurisdiction of the local municipality/town that you are in.

Do you pick up dead animals?
Only if it is on a county highway and is not a dead cat or dead dog. If it is not on a county highway, you need to contact your local municipality/town highway department or state highway/DOT.

Do you perform tree/shrubbery trimming?
We will trim overgrown tree limbs or shrubbery only if they are causing a hazard to the public safety and is within the county highway right-of-way.
Do you dig out the snow around the mailbox after plowing?
No. Digging out the snow around the mailbox is the homeowner's responsibility.
Do you replace a mailbox knocked over by snow plowing?
We will replace the mailbox with a generic mailbox or try to repair the existing mailbox as a courtesy. You do have to report the incident either by calling the highway department 845-638-5060 or completing the Request for Service form online.
