Those We Serve
The Purchasing Division provides services to 32 County Agencies including the Rockland County Sewer District #1; Rockland Community College for Capital Project related procurements', and Political Subdivisions throughout Rockland County who call on us for procurement related assistance.
The Purchasing Division interacts on a daily basis with over 150 Requisitioners and over 100 Department Approvers' who request and approve orders for items and services required to carry out their agency's mission.
The County provides a vast array of services, and maintains numerous facilities that provide services to our residents. The Purchasing Division is charged with obtaining the right supplies and services, at the right price, to be delivered at the right time for various County operations including:
- 258-Bed Correctional Facility
- Correctional Medical and Mental Health Units
- Law Enforcement – Sheriff's Department – Patrol Division, Mounted Division, River Patrol, Bomb Squad, Police Information Network, Police Academy and various countywide task forces
- Law Enforcement – District Attorney – Narcotics Task Force
- Probation and Public Defender
- Human Services – direct care services provided by the Department of Mental Health, Department of Health and Department of Social Services
- Early Intervention and Pre-K Transportation Services
- Information Technology
- Public Health Clinics, Public Health Education & Environmental Health
- Public Transportation – Transport of Rockland, Tappan Zee Express, TRIPS

The knowledge and experience required by the Purchasing Division's Buying Staff to meet the needs of the operations detailed above is significant, and requires the Purchasing Division's buyers to receive education and training on a continuing basis to meet the needs and challenges of our customers.
