How to Apply for Regular TRIPS Service
Seniors
Eligible seniors can obtain applications for Regular TRIPS service from the Rockland County Office for the Aging, Department of Public Transportation or by downloading the Regular TRIPS Application for Seniors. Residents may also visit the Rockland County Department of Public Transportation to apply in-person. Applications are accepted and I.D. cards are issued Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm at the Rockland County Department of Public Transportation located in Building T at the Dr. Robert L. Yeager Health Center, Pomona, NY.
Upon receipt of completed application and certification as a County resident age 60 or older, the Department of Public Transportation will issue a numbered photo identification (I.D.) card. The cost of the photo ID card is $2.00.
Non-Senior Residents with Disabilities
Non-senior residents with disabilities may obtain applications for Regular TRIPS service from the Rockland County Department of Public Transportation or by downloading the Regular TRIPS Application for Residents with Disabilities. Residents may also visit the Rockland County Department of Public Transportation to apply in-person. Applications are accepted and I.D. cards are issued Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm at the Rockland County Department of Public Transportation located in Building T at the Dr. Robert L. Yeager Health Center, Pomona, NY.
Certification is required and can be obtained from the following agencies:
- Alzheimer's Association
- ARC
- Camp Venture
- Jawonio
- Mental Health Association and associated programs
- Rockland County Department of Mental Health
Residents with disabilities who do not receive services from any of the above agencies may obtain certification through BRIDGES (formerly Rockland Independent Living Center). The final determination regarding eligibility rests with the certifying agency. Once a resident is certified, the applicant must bring the certification to the Rockland County Department of Public Transportation (Building T, Yeager Health Complex, Pomona.) Upon acceptance, a numbered photo ID card will be issued.
Upon receipt of completed application and certification from a Certifying Agency as a County resident with a disability, the Department of Public Transportation will issue a numbered photo identification (I.D.) card. The cost of the photo ID card is $2.00.
Residents with disabilities may also be eligible for ADA TRIPS Service.
Eligibility
When an applicant has been found eligible for Regular TRIPS service, that person will receive a packet of materials providing information on how to make reservations, the rights and responsibilities of riders, how to make complaints and other important information.
